Learn more about what a mentor and mentee team do.
A Mentor Team is an experienced FIRST team committed to helping others grow. These teams have navigated the challenges of building, fundraising, outreach, and competition, and are willing to share what they’ve learned.
Mentor Teams provide:
• Guidance on team structure and operations
• Technical advice and design feedback
• Outreach and sustainability strategies
• Realistic insights from their own successes and failures
• Encouragement and accountability
Mentor Teams don’t take over, they empower. Their role is to support, advise, and help other teams build confidence and independence over time.
A Mentee Team is a new, rebuilding, or developing FIRST team seeking guidance and support. These teams may be starting without school infrastructure, lacking mentorship, or working to strengthen their systems.
Mentee Teams receive:
• Operational frameworks and templates
• Technical and strategic guidance
• Help navigating competitions and judging
• Support in fundraising and outreach planning
• Connection to a broader network of teams
Through mentorship, mentee teams gain the tools, structure, and confidence to grow sustainably and eventually ripple that support forward to others.
