What is FIRST Robotics?
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a world wide organization that inspires engagement in the STEM Field through robotics competitions.
FIRST offers different types of games like FLL, FRC, and FTC. Each program is assigned to an age group. These teams design, build, and program robots to compete in various challenges. Emphasizing teamwork, innovation, and community outreach, FIRST is an amazing organization for people interested in STEM.
Explore is for kids aged 6-10 to learn engineering basics and solve real-world problems using LEGO bricks and LEGO® Education SPIKETM Essential or WeDo 2.0.
Challenge involves teams of 9-16-year-old students in friendly competitions. They conduct research, problem-solve, code, and engineer, creating a LEGO robot to solve missions.
FIRST Tech Challenge students design, build, and code robots to compete in alliances against other teams. Robots are powered by Android technology and can be coded in Java.
FIRST Robotics Competition is a high school robotics program in which students design, build and code. FRC is similar to FTC but on a much larger scale, bigger teams, robots, etc.
